Drug and alcohol education again will be offered to the fifth grade class in Grass Lake Elementary District 36 through a program approved Tuesday. The school board allocated $500 to be paid to a former Antioch police officer to teach an eight-week course of about one-hour per week beginning Jan. 16. The DARE program offered by the Antioch Police Department was discontinued and this is the first school year the anti-drug and alcohol education program was unavailable, according to Terry O’Brien, superintendent/principal of the one-school district.
