Library's noon program welcomes Batavia author

Submitted by Books Between Bites

Batavia's noontime book program, Books Between Bites, welcomes Batavia author Marnie O. Mamminga Thursday, Dec. 20, to discuss her book "Return to Wake Robin: One Cabin in the Heyday of Northwoods Resorts."

The monthly series will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Five generations of Mamminga's family have been rejuvenated by times together in Wisconsin's Northwoods. In a series of evocative remembrances accompanied by vintage family photos, Mamminga takes us to Wake Robin, the cabin her grandparents built in 1929 on Big Spider Lake near Hayward.

Along the way, she preserves the spirit and cultural heritage of a vanishing era, conveying the heart of a place and the community that gathered there. Mamminga's book was selected and published by the Wisconsin Historical Society. Books will be available for sale and signing at the program.

The public is invited to attend these free programs and reservations are not required. They are held in the large community room on the main level of the Batavia Public Library. Parking is available in the lot just south and adjacent to the library.

Attendees are invited to bring their lunch and eat as they enjoy the program and discussion. Lunch items, beverages and baked goods can be purchased at 10 South Coffee House, just inside the library and adjacent to the meeting room. To pre-order for pickup just before the program, call (630) 406-8870.
