State agencies review safety after school shooting

Officials at several Illinois agencies are reviewing programs for students in the aftermath of the shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that left dozens dead, including 20 children.
Gov. Pat Quinn announced Tuesday that agencies including the Illinois State Board of Election and Illinois State Police will look for improvements and try to cooperate more. That includes emergency response planning.

Quinn says the state has increased emergency preparedness over the years, but needs to continue to do so to make schools safer. The governor says he'll gather safety experts in the coming weeks to further discuss strategies.
Education officials are working on a school safety drill video that will be available next month.
