Bartlett day care provider Pamela Jacobazzi, who was convicted 13 years ago in the death of a 10-month-old child in her care, gained the support of Northwestern University students and their professor. The school’s Medill Innocence Project found the initial police investigation to be lacking and that pre-existing medical conditions in the infant were not revealed during the trial that may have factored into the death. Police continue to search for a man who broke into a Lisle home early yesterday and got away — despite being shot at by the homeowner. The incident caused a nearby Steeple Run Elementary school to go on lockdown for three hours. Full story.
Prospect Heights to study lake water option
Bringing Lake Michigan water to every home and business in the city of Prospect Heights is being kicked around as part of a series of three studies approved Monday. One study includes extending water to 385 homes, and another to 300 homes. The third study examines bringing it to the entire city. Full story.
Algonquin officials choose traditional pedestrian bridge
Officials choosing from among 10 styles for a pedestrian bridge over Randall Road in Algonquin picked a traditional design. The $3.1 million bridge will feature brick pillars and a bowstring bridge. Construction is set for 2014 and is expected to take 10 months. Full story.

IL. Route 31 is closed in Elgin between Big Timber Road and Wing Street due to a crash. Rescue crews remain on the scene assisting injured. Officials said a car crashed into a utility pole and debris remained in the roadway. More traffic.
Bears could be going nowhere fast
If the Chicago Bears can’t capitalize on homefield advantage to beat division-rivals Green Bay Packers Sunday, they might as well throw in the towel, sports writers say. A loss Sunday would be the fifth in six games.
