Hanover Township doesn't raise 2013 property tax levy

The Hanover Township board of trustees unanimously approved the 2013 property tax levy with no increase, marking the second consecutive year officials held the line. The total township levy is $5.9 million, while the road district levy is about $1.6 million, half of which goes to municipalities within the township. "We continue to find new ways to do more without asking for more," Supervisor Brian McGuire said, citing the township's phasing out of administrative support positions and decision to implement a four-year pay freeze for elected officials. Hanover Township serves nearly 100,000 residents in parts of Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg and Streamwood.
