Elgin seeks help identifying armed robbery suspect

By Elena Ferrarin

Elgin police are asking the public for help in finding a suspect, whose sketch was released Tuesday, that is believed to have been involved in an armed robbery last month.

The robbery took place the evening of Nov. 28 in the area of Congdon and Logan avenues, when the female victim was approached by a suspect armed with a handgun who robbed of her cellphone and other personal effects, police said in a news release. The suspect fled on foot. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years old, of average height and build. He was wearing a gray zip-up sweatshirt. The victim gave a description to a police sketch artist who developed a composite sketch.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Elgin Police Detective Heather Robinson at (847) 289-2612 or leave an anonymous tip at (847) 695-4195.
