The $3.1 million pedestrian bridge that will eventually cross over Randall Road at Bunker Hill Drive in Algonquin will eventually look like this. Tuesday, the village's committee of the whole selected this design from 10 others.

This was one of the bridges that Algonquin Trustee Jim Steigert preferred over the more traditional bridge that was ultimately selected. It's a bowstring concept bridge with a flashy precast "X" design on the ground, one he said could have attracted worldwide attention.
