Bulls’ Rose works out at Berto Center

The Webumentary on his recovery has ended, now Derrick Rose is starting to be more visible at the Berto Center, at least to reporters.

Rose conducted a lengthy shooting session Monday after the Bulls finished practice. He shot free throws, midrange and long-range jumpers. At one point, he caught passes at the top of the key, turned and shot.

“I’m just glad he’s doing good,” teammate Kirk Hinrich said. “It seemed like his spirits are up. Nobody wants to push him or anything, but just excited that he’s feeling better.”

Rose didn’t demonstrate the usual lift from his legs while firing jumpers, but it’s not clear if he can’t perform his typical jumps or he was just taking it easy on his legs. Rose tore the ACL in his left knee on April 28.

Rose didn’t stick around to talk to reporters, but he did finish his workout with a couple of loud screams, left open to interpretation.

Bulls can answer rough loss:The Bulls suffered their first 20-point loss in nearly two years when they played the Clippers in Los Angeles on Nov. 17. Blake Griffin scored 26 points and ex-Bull Jamal Crawford added 22 as the Bulls lost 101-80.Otherwise, the Bulls#146; worst defeat this season has been by 8 points. They#146;ll get a rematch with the Clippers on Tuesday in a late 8:30 start at the United Center.#147;They beat up on us pretty good out there. We have to play much better tomorrow,#148; Kirk Hinrich said on Monday. #147;We have to be locked in defensively. We can#146;t turn it over and let them get out in the open floor. We have to be solid and make them earn what they get.#148;Added coach Tom Thibodeau: #147;I felt in that game we beat ourselves. We put them in the open floor. I think they had 26 fastbreak points. Those are things we can#146;t do against them. Hopefully we#146;ve improved since then. #147;They#146;re playing as well as anybody in the league. They#146;re deep, their bench has played great for them. So we have to be ready. #133; They#146;re first in steals and first in fastbreak points.#148;Brewer compares coaches:Ronnie Brewer is in his third straight season of playing for the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference #151; two with the Bulls and now in New York.On Saturday, Brewer was asked to compare Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau with New York#146;s Mike Woodson.#147;They#146;re different in a lot of ways, but they are similar,#148; he said. #147;They#146;re very into detail. Thibs is very particular about positioning defensively. Coach Woody#146;s the same way. They want experts on defense. To me, defense wins championships and it keeps you in a lot of games. I think that#146;s why both coaches have a lot of success.#148;BKN27464000Blake Griffin and the L.A.
