Man robs employee outside North Aurora 7-Eleven store

An employee of the 7-Eleven store in downtown North Aurora was robbed at 9:40 a.m. Monday as she was taking a deposit to a bank.

North Aurora police say the worker was robbed just outside the store, which is at Lincolnway and State Street. The robber was waiting out of sight on the south side of the building, knocked her to the ground, displayed a gun and demanded the money.

The robber left through an alley between Route 31 and Adams Street.

Police said the suspect is described as a light-skinned male, appearing to be Hispanic. He was heavyset, and between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was wearing a black quilted puffy coat, black pants, black work boots and a black knit beanie-style hat. The gun appeared to be a black semiautomatic handgun, with a square black barrel.

Police want to speak with anyone who might have seen the suspect before or after the crime, and say that no piece of information is too small. Call the Investigations Division at (630) 897-8705, ext. 610. Anonymous tips can be left by calling (630) 897-8705 and choosing option 3.
