Fire causes $100,000 damage to Hoffman Estates home

Firefighters from Hoffman Estates and assisting agencies battled an early morning blaze Monday that left an estimated $100,000 in damage to a single-family home.

Someone driving past the residence in the 500 block of Bode Road reported the fire at 12:46 a.m. Firefighters responding brought the main body of the fire under control quickly, officials said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation. It's unknown whether the house had working smoke detectors, but it was not equipped with a fire sprinkler system, authorities said.
