Police are asking for help in finding a male offender who stabbed a 21-year-old man twice in the abdomen early Wednesday outside a Lake Zurich McDonald’s, authorities said. The stabbing occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the McDonald’s parking lot at 653 S. Rand Road. Full story.
A 37-year-old Arlington Heights man convicted of trying to run over a Chicago police officer in 2010 on Chicago’s Rush Street was sentenced Tuesday to 23 years in prison. The sentence for Michael Cacini includes a 20-year term for attempted murder and a consecutive three-year sentence for aggravated battery to a police officer. Full story.
Lake County State’s Attorney Mike Nerheim announced prosecutors will request dismissal of an aggravated battery charge against Bennie Starks, who was wrongfully convicted of raping a woman in 1986 and was recently released from prison after serving 20 years.
