Metra’s Union Pacific North line delayed due to mechanical failure

A mechanical issue is causing delays on Metra’s Union Pacific North line near Lake Bluff and Grayslake, authorities said.

Metra spokesman Tom Miller said train 306, which was due to arrive in Chicago at 7:30 a.m., broke down near Lake Bluff.

He did not have a reason why train 306 broke down just minutes from the Lake Bluff Metra Station.

He said Metra officials joined the broken train with train 308, and the two trains continued on to Chicago.

Delays were averaging about 20 minutes behind schedule according to the Metra website.
