CHICAGO ó The former Chicago police lieutenant convicted of lying about the torture of suspects is expected to testify in a trial this week.
The trial stems from a lawsuit filed by Alton Logan. He was wrongfully imprisoned for 26 years for a murder he didnít commit and released in 2008.
His lawsuit alleges deprivation of constitutional rights, among other things. It names Burge, who was convicted in 2010 of lying under oath by testifying in a lawsuit that heíd never witnessed or participated in the torture of suspects.
Heís serving a federal prison sentence in North Carolina.
Burge will appear via videoconferencing and is expected to plead the Fifth Amendment.
