Thanksgiving campaign nets speeders

Libertyville police recently announced the results of their Thanksgiving impaired driver and seat belt enforcement campaign, from Nov. 12 to 25. Besides normal patrols, Libertyville Police used grant funds for six separate “saturation patrols” to increase enforcement efforts against impaired drivers and motorists and passengers not wearing seat belts. Police conducted 221 traffic stops that netted: four arrests for DUI; one citation for not wearing seat belt; three arrests for driving with a suspended or revoked license; two arrests for driving without a valid driver’s license; and, 71 citations for speeding and numerous other moving violations. One citation each also was given for transporting open alcohol, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
