Little competition in N. Aurora election

Unless somebody files as a write-in candidate, it appears North Aurora Village President Dale Berman will have no opponents in the April election.

Petitions were due at 5 p.m. Monday, Berman is the only one seeking the presidency. If elected, it would be his second consecutive term as president, and his third overall.

Village Clerk Lori Murray is also unopposed, as she seeks a second term.

Trustees Mark Gaffino and Chris Faber have filed for re-election. Michael Lowery and Allen Cavender also seek a term as trustee. There are three, 4-year seats up for election. Trustee Vincent Mancini did not seek re-election.

At least seven people would have had to run for trustee to require a Feb. 26 primary, and at least three apiece for clerk and president.

Candidates for the Messenger Public Library board and the North Aurora Fire Protection District board don’t have to file petitions until Dec. 17.
