Former governor’s son accused of DUI

BRADLEY, Ill. — The son of former Gov. George Ryan has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence, authorities said.

The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports George Ryan Jr., of St. Anne, was arrested early Thursday morning.

According to a police report, the 48-year-old was sleeping in the driver’s seat of his pickup truck.

The truck was parked outside a White Castle restaurant in Bradley. The vehicle was running.

Ryan failed to complete several sobriety tests and refused chemical testing, police said.

He was taken to the local jail, where he posted bail and was released later Thursday.

Ryan could not be reached for comment Friday. He did not immediately return a telephone message left at his office.
