Voters just turned off the light
Pearl Harbor, the assassination of JFK, Challenger exploding before our eyes, the twin towers falling into the streets on that awful September day — all of these blows and more could not extinguish the great beacon; it was simply turned off by those inside. It was on Nov. 6 that the music died.
