Naperville mom indicted in double child slaying
The Naperville woman accused of fatally stabbing her young son and a kindergartner she was baby-sitting was formally indicted Thursday on 10 counts of first-degree murder.
Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, also was formally charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty for allegedly stabbing and killing two dogs, a dachshund named Tootsie and a mixed breed named Niki, prosecutors said.
The grand jury indictment alleges five counts of first-degree murder in the killing of Plackowska’s 7-year-old son Justin and five counts in the killing of 5-year-old Olivia Dworakowski, said DuPage County state’s attorney spokesman Paul Darrah. Both children were slain Oct. 30 as Plackowska looked after them in Olivia’s home in Naperville, according to prosecutors. The dogs also were found fatally stabbed inside the home.
Plackowska faces mandatory life sentence if convicted of murdering both children. Her arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.
