5K in South Barrington to benefit veterans Nov. 17

The Arboretum of South Barrington is excited to team up with the South Barrington Park District to host Miles For The Military 5K Run on Saturday, Nov. 17. Miles For The Military is a certified 5K race through the picturesque grounds of The Arboretum benefiting Air Compassion for Veterans. The 5K run starts at 9 a.m., at the Fountain Plaza in front of IPic Theaters, and goes through The Arboretum and The South Barrington Park District.

While The Arboretum of South Barrington, a strong community and foundations supporter, has held many races on their property, Miles For The Military 5K Run will be the first race it has organized on its newly certified race route.

All proceeds from this event will go to Air Compassion for The Veterans, the nation’s largest and most able provider of free medical air transportation for wounded warriors, veterans and their family members, in order to get them to their homes, care centers or hospitals.

Race day events will include a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter landing by the US Marine Corp to kick off the race followed by a post race party of beer, food from participating restaurants and live music from HIFI Superstar.
