Why so adamant to outsource police?

Despite the fact that 87 percent of Winfield voters oppose outsourcing our police to the DuPage Sheriff's department, Trustee Tim Allen still insists on pursuing that route.

According to a Nov. 7 post in his online blog Winfield411.com, Mr. Allen said "Tomorrow, I meet with the County Sheriff for our first official negotiation regarding contracting police services."

Why does he insist on pursuing these negotiations especially when there are other options to outsourcing, including but not limited to, the results of the REM study; a study that cost the village $32,000? Why agree to waste that money if he already had his mind made up?

In a statement that he made on the Facebook page, We Stand Behind the Winfield Police (Oct. 10), he said, "If the village don't (sic) pass the tax referendum it say (sic) to this trustee that people are ok with contracting with the county. Period. End of story."

I am confused by this statement since he himself, opposed the tax increases. "I am happy that the tax referendum failed. I have said I was for 'No New Taxes' and I meant it." (Tim Allen, Winfield411.com, Nov. 7).

Why vote to have it placed on the ballot if he opposed it? What is his true agenda? Why is he so adamant to outsource our police?
