Edward Hospital to run walk-in clinics in Naperville

Edward Hospital in Naperville is opening two supermarket-based clinics that on seven days a week will see patients without an appointment.

The hospital is opening walk-in clinics at Jewel-Osco pharmacies in Naperville and Romeoville. Both locations open Monday.

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Edward's primary care practice will see patients at the clinics. Most insurance plans will be accepted, and there will be self-pay options for the uninsured.

The clinics will be able to treat colds and other common ailments, and minor injuries such as burns, scrapes and splinters. They'll also provide school physicals, vaccinations and tests for diabetes and blood pressure.

Nationally, such clinics may gain more customers in 2014 when millions of uninsured Americans get coverage under the nation's health care overhaul law.
