Salons, spas raising money for Wis. salon victims

MILWAUKEE — At least 98 salons, spas and beauty schools in the Milwaukee area and in other states are raising money for the victims of the Wisconsin spa shooting.

Radcliffe Haughton shot seven women at the Azana Salon & Spa in Brookfield on Oct. 21. Three died, including his estranged wife, Zina, before Haughton killed himself.

One of the organizers is Jan Seybold, owner of Carenza Color. Cutting. Experience, which is near Azana. She says she felt helpless when she heard about the shooting and wanted to help the victims at the competing salon.

The salons and spas are donating 5 to 25 percent of sales Tuesday. She says salons in California, New York, New Jersey, Texas and Illinois are also participating.

Seybold says she hopes to raise at least $100,000.
