The election has been won for responsible government. The anti-government crowd has been defeated. President Obama will administer a central government for the general welfare of all the people.
My wife will be able to watch public television without having its programming interrupted by commercial advertising. The people in New Jersey and New York will have effective federal government aid in rebuilding from the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy.
The crazy economic theories of shrinking the money supply and balancing the national budget in the face of a major business contraction are discredited again, 80 years after they first failed us.
The EPA will bring responsible rules to ensure a healthy environment. The U.S. war department will not spend another $200 billion each year on top of its current spending of $700 billion. Regulation to rein in excesses and unethical behavior in the financial markets will remain law in order to prevent another job killing financial crisis.
All citizens, young and old, will have access to health care. And our children and grandchildren will be able to watch Big Bird on PBS television without seeing commercials urging them to eat sugar-laden cereals for breakfast.
Those who understand the role of government in the society and are willing to govern are the people who received our vote.
