Cevapicci Sausages and Tzatziki Sauce

text size: AAA

12 ounces of Serbian or Greek plain yogurt

6 ounces sour cream

½ cup peeled and grated cucumber

1 teaspoon minced garlic

3 tablespoons of minced green onions (discard green part)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Freshly squeezed juice of half lemon

12 cevapicci sausages (can be made with beef, pork or lamb)

3 pitas

In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt, sour cream, cucumber, garlic, onion, salt, pepper and lemon juice; stir until well mixed. Cover and chill for 2 hours.

Cevapicci sausages are best cooked on a grill but can be pan fried. These sausages are lean, so if pan frying add 1 tablespoon olive oil to skillet and cook over medium heat. Add four sausages to each pita. Top with prepared sauce.

Serves three.
