Director of Arlington Aces soccer takes Harper College to Nationals!

After winning his third regional title at Harper College, Arlington Aces Director of Soccer Dwayne Cruz is ready to take his team to Nationals this weekend.

Harper began the season (6-10) but was able to beat the odds. In the Regional the Hawks dominated the first half against DuPage, but “didn't finish them off the way that we should have,” said Cruz.

Defense remained essential as the Hawks fought for the victory. “We knew it would be the longest 38 minutes of our lives,” stated Cruz. “We played well for about 15-20 minutes, high pressure all over the place and they couldn't do much. Then we had a letdown and the momentum started to change. That hurt us a little bit.” Harper held on and was able to beat DuPage for the third time this season.

“The last 17 minutes were dreadful for us,” Cruz said. “We couldn't get it together but we held them off and did our job.” There is still work to be done this weekend in New York as Harper advances to the NJCAA Div III Championship. On behalf of the Arlington Heights Park District, we wish Coach Cruz and the Hawks best of luck this weekend!
