Republican Mike Nerheim won the race to become the first new Lake County state's attorney in more than two decades. Nerheim of Gurnee bested Democrat Chris Kennedy of Libertyville in a battle between former prosecutors to succeed Republican state's attorney Michael Waller. Waller opted not to seek re-election after 22 years in office.With all 415 precincts reporting, unofficial totals showed Nerheim with 136,771 votes over Kennedy with 131,257.Galleries by Category
