Mathias “gets it” on state budget

text size: AAA

I know you are just as tired as I am of seeing our hard-earned money get wasted in Springfield.

Many state representatives have no problem spending our tax dollars on more government programs. We don't need bigger state government, doling out projects and beefing up programs to benefit their friends and family. We need to rein in such spending and get the state's fiscal house in order.

The unbridled spending simply has to stop. We, our children and our grandchildren simply can't be saddled with the debt that state lawmakers continue to pile up.

Sid Mathias, state representative candidate in the 59th District, is one of the ones who gets that we can't continue this spending pattern.

He voted for legislation to end state pension abuses and pay-to-play politics in our state. Mathias supports a 10 percent pay cut for Illinois lawmakers and imposing term limits so individuals don't become career politicians.

He brings a common-sense approach to state finances and wants controlled spending and an open and honest budgeting process, where everyone can see just what is occurring.

Mathias won't turn a blind eye to his responsibilities to represent the people. He will enforce the constitutional requirement that the state balance its budget. While it is tiring to see waste continue in Springfield, it is refreshing to know someone with the knowledge and determination of Mathias is fighting on our behalf.

Please vote Nov. 6 for Sid Mathias, a straight talker who will stand up for us.
