Shanes has qualities of excellent judge
With all the other contested races on the ballot this November, you may feel that it is difficult to get excited about a judicial race. People often don't know who the candidates for judge are and, sadly, don't seem care all that much. Only if they should have the "misfortune" of appearing in court do they really need to know that the judge hearing their case is the very best: fair, impartial, knowledgeable about the law and human nature, and possessing a sharp mind and a judicial temperament.
But at the local level there may be no more important election than that of good judges. Judges decide and rule upon the parties' rights, award significant damages, send people to prison, decide child custody issues, and protect all of the rights and liberties that we hold dear.
The importance of selecting good judges here in Lake County simply cannot be overstated. Lake County has a rare opportunity, an opportunity to keep Daniel Shanes as a Circuit Court Judge.
Daniel Shanes was a highly regarded lawyer when he worked as a prosecutor for nearly 12 years. A tireless and fierce advocate for victims of crime, he was respected by all sides for his knowledge of the law and his work ethic.
With literally hundreds of trials under his belt he knows how a courtroom should be run and how to safeguard and respect the rights of all courtroom participants. For those who know and work with him, it was not surprising when both the Lake County Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association awarded Judge Daniel Shanes their highest ratings.
While other judicial candidates may also be fine attorneys, Judge Daniel Shanes stands out as a real legal scholar and experienced practitioner. He has the unique blend of personal and book smarts, coupled with impeccable integrity. Judge Daniel Shanes is the best judicial candidate.
As a long-time practicing attorney, I know an excellent attorney when I see one and the qualities that make an excellent judge. If there is one time Lake County voters need to educate themselves and vote for a judicial candidate, it should be now, and it should be to vote for Judge Daniel Shanes.
