Party politics stymies progress
The Daily Herald has the right to back Mitt Romney for president. We have the right to vote for who we support. You gave the reason for your choice as mainly who will do the best with the economy; that Barack Obama has not done a good job in his first term. I don’t agree.
I am a bottom liner. Early in his presidency, Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, stated that his mission was to unseat the president. speaker of the House John Boehmer supports the most radical thinkers of the Tea Party. With their mission in mind, how could any president accomplish the goals that affect you and me in this kind of environment? Imagine a president getting up every day to this attitude. I’m surprised that Obama has done as well as he has.
Mitt Romney, of course, will share many of their ideas. Remarks like the famous 47 percent or “binders” of women; they just blather right over the top of such thinking with rhetoric.
I believe Barack Obama will bring our economy back on track. It did not get into the mess it’s been in overnight. No one can remedy it until the problem of venomous partisan politics is solved. Then — and only then — will the American People really be served.
