Officials hope the mapping tool will encourage residents to get flu shots in their community.

The collaboration emerged from conversations between the health department and the social group, OpenGovChicago, during an event at which volunteer developers collaborate on civic technology projects.

Officials say the map is just one of the approaches the city is taking to ensure the health of all Chicagoans.
