Diving: Scouting the MSL meet

Diving: Scouting the MSL meet

Where: Barrington High School

When: 6 p.m. Friday

Outlook: Prospect sophomore Dana Liva made quite a splash winning the conference championship as a freshman last season. The bad news for the rest of the league is that she’s only improved, regularly posting 6-dive scores in the mid 200’s during MSL duals this fall with a similarly improved 11-dive list. There’s every reason to believe Liva will be able to repeat, but what’s interesting is that the top-end divers as a whole have improved in the conference. Hersey junior Hannah Bovino continues on a dramatically improved arc after picking up diving just last season; her junior teammate Megan Nocita is also among the best in the MSL. Important team points are at stake as Fremd’s young divers — sophomore Sydney Plichta and freshman Sarah McTague — aim for high finishes. Barrington will be counting on junior Tiffany Soto and Molly Voska for the same reason, as the Fillies and Vikings expect to be in a tight race for overall meet surpremacy. Schaumburg has a nice 1-2 punch with two Amandas — Poland and Sigler. Conant features Erin Corcoran and Lexi Correa, and Palatine will compete with Morgan Radtke and Megan Bourn.

Next: Diving counts as one of the 12 events in the Mid-Suburban League championships. The swimming portion begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at Barrington.
