Dressing your pet for Halloween? Enter our contest!

C'mon, admit it. You know you bought a costume for your pet this year.

What is it? A hot dog suit for your dachshund? A Liberace outfit, complete with cape, for your Labrador? A Superman costume for your mixed-breed? We want to see!

The Daily Herald is teaming up with Born Free pet food to sponsor the first Suburban Chicago Pet Costume Contest running entirely online. And it's time to enter. The winner -- as determined by our online voters -- will receive a year's supply of free pet food from Born Free or Fromm, up to $800 in value, and also have the chance to be an online celebrity. In addition to the free meals, our winner will land on the cover of our Healthy Pets magazine in December.

Here's how it works: Go to dailyherald.com/contest/scarypet and register, then upload a current photo of your pet. And yes, they need to be wearing a costume!

We're accepting entries through the end of the day Wednesday, Nov. 7. At the stroke of midnight on Thursday, Nov. 8, voting will begin online and stretch through Wednesday, Nov. 14. The photo that earns the most votes claims the prize.

To make it more fun for all, we've included a bonus for shelters. The runner-up, or the photo with the second highest number of votes, will get to choose a 501c3 shelter in the Chicago area to receive $500 in pet food from either Born Free or Fromm.

So what are you waiting for? Go take that picture and enter!
