Man’s body pulled from downstate Rend Lake

INA, Ill. — An autopsy is planned on a Sesser man whose body was recovered from Rend Lake after he reportedly fell from a boat.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says 54-year-old Alan Saiz’s body was found Monday evening in more than 11 feet of water in the Gun Creek area of the southern Illinois lake. Leffler pronounced Saiz dead at the scene.

Sheriff Don Jones says authorities don’t know what caused Saiz to fall out of the boat Sunday, but Jones says no foul play is suspected.

The investigation into his death continues. An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday at the White County Morgue in Carmi.
