Burton, 32, of the 38W300 block of Heatherfield Drive, Elgin, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis after authorities executed an arrest warrant at 11:56 p.m. Oct. 17 at his home for failure to appear on court on drug paraphernalia charges, according to a sheriff's report. Authorities say they found various pipes and 1.9 grams of cannabis.

• A resident of the 42W900 block of Empire Road near St. Charles reported Thursday that a letter from a "National Lottery" was received informing the resident of winning $153,750, but that a $2,620 "processing fee" was needed, according to a sheriff's report. The resident reported the letter to authorities and no money was sent.
