Chicago’s Public Housing Museum offers new, virtual tour

People around the world may now take a virtual tour of the historic building that will become home to the National Public Housing Museum in Chicago.

The museum partnered with the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom to produce the virtual tour of the last remaining building of the Jane Addams Homes, one of the first public housing complexes in Chicago.

In a statement, museum officials also say they recently received more than $1 million in donations for the facility’s capital campaign. They say they are on track to break ground on the city’s near West Side early next year.

The National Public Housing Museum will be the first institution in the country committed to telling the story of the American experience in public housing.
