Report: McMahon’s health outlook improves

By

If you were concerned about Jim McMahon’s health after last month’s Sports Illustrated story about his early onset dementia, the former Bears quarterback now is sharing a more hopeful outlook.

Speaking at a University of St. Francis sports banquet Thursday, McMahon told the Joliet Herald News that he is encouraged about treatment he will receive next month in New York under the care of Dr. Raymond Damadian, whose work in magnetic resonance led to the invention of the first MRI.

McMahon told the newspaper that he has “some type of blockage” in his neck than can be corrected and that should relieve some of the problems affecting his brain and memory.
