Eureka College to offer ‘Reagan 101’ course

EUREKA — Eureka College plans to offer a four-day “Reagan 101” course next week.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be among noted politicians, journalists and authors who’ll take part in the examination of the late President Ronald Reagan’s life.

Best-selling author Craig Shirley will focus on Reagan’s presidential campaigns as the college’s first Visiting Reagan Scholar. Shirley has written two books about Reagan.

The 40th president was an Illinois native who graduated from Eureka College in 1932 and served 18 years on its board of trustees.

The free course will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. C-SPAN plans to record the first class as part of its Lectures in History series. There’s no word yet on when that will air.
