Time for a change in 6th District

The choice is ours in the newly formed 6th Congressional District. The Republican incumbent, Peter Roskam, always votes the party line. Leslie Coolidge, the Democratic challenger, has moderate views and is not afraid to express what she sees as great potential for this country.

Peter Roskam voted to cut hundreds of jobs at Fermilab in our area, and voted for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Leslie Coolidge supports targeted incentives and job skill training that will help create quality jobs in Illinois.

Peter Roskam voted 33 times to repeal Obamacare. Leslie Coolidge will protect Obamacare, but will focus on how to curb rising medical costs.

Peter Roskam voted for Paul Ryan’s budget which would turn Medicare into a voucher program. Leslie Coolidge will work to strengthen Medicare by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.

Peter Roskam wants to ban a woman’s right to choose, even in cases of rape or incest. He co-sponsored a bill that would legally redefine rape to exclude statutory rape and some kinds of date rape. Leslie Coolidge supports a woman’s right to choose and will fight attempts to redefine rape.

Leslie Coolidge’s background as a partner in a worldwide accounting firm gives her a unique insight into issues facing Congress in the next term such as job growth, tax policy, the deficit and abuses that contributed to the recession.

Peter Roskam is the most conservative member of the Illinois Congressional delegation, according to the National Journal. Leslie Coolidge is ready to reach across the aisle and work for legislative solutions that are in the best interest of the country.

The choice is ours on Nov. 6: growth or gridlock. Let’s make a change in Congress.
