ArtReach Theatre's 'Oklahoma' bursts on stage this weekend

ArtReach Educational Theatre in partnership with Spotlite Theatrix Production Company and District 214 Community Education is staging the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “Oklahoma” at the Forest View Education Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights.

The show will be performed azt 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Tickets are $16 in advance or $18 at the door; get them at (630) 808-5852 or visit www.artreachspotlite.com. Reservations are recommended; group discounts are available.

Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.

The production is directed by Dan Walsh, with choreography by Dan Walsh, Chicago; Gia Russo, Oak Brook and Breton Spiller, Mount Prospect. Musical direction is by Jessican Harrigan Texidor, Chicago.

The cast includes Jonah Parra of Palatine; Lisa Brueck, Montgomery; Mary Jo Williamson, Justice; Dan Walsh; Jackie Podgorny, Inverness; Dylan De Witt, Buffalo Grove; Rocco Ayala, Chicago; Trevor Walker, Lombard; Breton Spiller; and Gertie Cummings, Damien Santoyo and Kevin Foss of Palatine.

The mission of ArtReach Educational Theatre is to expose children to all aspects of theater, music and dance. it accepts any child with a genuine interest in the arts from age 5 through high school.
