The Village of Hawthorn Woods environmental committee is looking for volunteers for its annual fall bulb planting at Heritage Oak Park on Fairfield Road, at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14. The committee will plant more than 200 Narcissus along with 2,000 Chionodoxa bulbs. Volunteers are needed to help with the planting, and should expect to get dirty. Gloves are recommended, knee pads if you need them, and a hand shovel or small spade would be suggested, as well. Come and watch, come and work for 20 minutes, or come and help with the whole project. Rain date is the following Saturday. (847) 438-5500.
