Labor Dept. officials visit Harper’s manufacturing program

By

U.S. Department of Labor Deputy Secretary Seth Harris on Friday visited Harper College in Palatine to take part in the community college’s National Manufacturing Day activities.

Harris toured the mechatronics facilities and touted the $12.9 million federal grant Harper will receive to help expand its new Advanced Manufacturing program to more than 20 community colleges across the state.

Harper officials worked with local manufacturers to develop its new degree program to help address the shortage of skilled workers in the state.
