The village of Vernon Hills will host its 8th annual Oktoberfest celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Metra station, 75 Route 45. Attractions include a petting zoo, free kids crafts, pumpkins to paint, a hay ride and several inflatables. Other attractions include: Twist & Shout balloonist Holly Nagel, 3 to 5:30 p.m.; Record A Hits and inflatable from 3 to 7 p.m.; The Voice contestant Jamie Lono, 5 to 6 p.m.; Silent Redemption, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.; Ultimate Freaking Bank, 7:30 to 10 p.m. All raffle proceeds will benefit local nonprofit food vendors.
