Chamber 5K takes runners onto Winners Circle

The Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce’s Health and Wellness Initiative Committee will host its annual 5K run/walk in the parking lot of Arlington Racecourse on Saturday — where the runners will finish the last 100 feet on the horse track and jog into the Winners Circle.

“If you have always wanted to run like the horses on the track at Arlington Racecourse, this is your chance,” said Jon S. Ridler, executive director of the chamber. “We may also have a horsetail for runners to wear as they gallop around the course.”

The Pony Up For Health 5K run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 beginning with registration at 9:30 a.m. The race starts at 11 a.m.

Registrations are capped at 300 this year. Advance signup is $28 online at www.ArlingtonHeightsChamber.com. Day-of registration is $35.

Runners get a dry-fit race shirt and a commemorative medallion. Winners of each age group will receive trophies.

Arlington Racecourse is at 2200 West Euclid Ave. Enter via the Wilke Road entrance and park in the Metra lot. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to participate and enjoy adding life to your years and years to your life.
