Spotlight on seasonal crafts at St. Charles Scarecrow Fest

In the midst of all of the fall festivities at the St. Charles Scarecrow Fest, there will be even more fun for craft show lovers.

The Autumn on the Fox Art and Craft Show has been running for nearly 30 years.

This year, there will be 170 booths of handmade arts and crafts on display and for sale as part of the Scarecrow Fest, organizer Robin Reed said.

“There is a mix of fine art and crafts,” she said. “We have jewelry, wearing apparel and soft sculpture items.”

In keeping with the season, you’ll also find gourd art, and fall décor, including florals, scarecrows, iron sculpture and painted pumpkins.

Some of the other favorites each year are wood toys, stained glass, garden art, pottery, re-purposed items, hand blown glass, laser cut metal and baby items, she said.

All of the items are handmade by the exhibiting artists, Reed said.

“There is truly a wide variety of handmade items,” Reed said.

The Autumn on the Fox Art and Craft show will take place at Pottawatomie Park, near North and Third avenues, just along the east bank of the Fox River.

For those looking for a little food to take home, there also are homemade food items, including soup and dip mixes, caramel apples, a variety of chocolates, baked goods, honey products and barbecue sauces.

Reed said the art and craft show is a great complement to the St. Charles Scarecrow Fest, and is another fun facet of the fest.

The arts and crafts show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
