YMCA topic of special meeting:
The Vernon Hills village board and Vernon Hills Park District board of commissioners will hold a special joint session at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 to discuss the announced closing of the Lake County Family YMCA. The brainstorming session will be to discuss possible options regarding the facility at 700 Lakeview Parkway and is considered a preliminary step, according to Vernon Hills Village Manager Mike Allison. The organization last week announced it would close its locations in Waukegan and Vernon Hills on Oct. 31 due to financial difficulties. The meeting is at the Vernon Hills village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive.
