MacLean-Fogg to expand Metform facility in Savanna

MUNDELEIN — Maclean-Fogg Component Solutions recently broke ground on an 86,000-square-foot precision component machining facility at its Metform location in downstate Savanna.

“This investment will enable Metform to significantly expand its already strong position in the driveline component forging and machining market,” said Maclean-Fogg President Duncan MacLean.

Construction will begin this month on the new state-of-the-art machining factory adjacent to the existing hot forming plant on Route 84 in Savanna. Operations are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2013.

“This investment in infrastructure, machinery and equipment is expected to top $30 million and create more than 50 new jobs within the next 2 years,” explained Matthias Praus, vice president and general manager at Metform.

With 10 Hatebur hot forging presses, Metform is one of North America’s leading horizontal hot forging companies, supplying the automotive, heavy duty and agriculture industries. Metform has two locations in Savanna and one in Mt. Carroll.
