Man convicted in 2006 murder of tumbler

CHICAGO — A Chicago man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2006 death of a Jesse White tumbler and star high school basketball player.

After three hours of deliberation, a Cook County jury found 27-year-old Eddie Fenton guilty of fatally shooting 17-year-old Willie Williams outside a movie theater. The shooting occurred as friends of the two men were engaged in a fight. Authorities say Williams was not involved. Fenton was arrested in 2010.

In closing arguments, prosecutors pointed out witnesses, including a friend of Fenton's who disposed of the weapon, identified him as the shooter.

Fenton is also charged with first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Johnathan Bowman and wounding another man during a party at the home of Fenton's sister. He is awaiting trial on that charge.
