Cougar-like cat spotted in Schaumburg

By

A resident’s sighting of a large animal with a long tail and a cat-shaped head was reported to Schaumburg police Friday.

The resident said he was driving west on Schaumburg Road a couple of blocks west of Roselle Road, near Friendship Village, about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when he saw the animal cross the road south into a residential area.

The animal was described as having an earth-tone color and weighing about 60 pounds.

Residents are advised to call 911 immediately if they see any such animal.

Though possible cougar sightings have been reported recently in Highland Park, Northfield and Winnetka, this report is the first of its kind in Schaumburg.
