Construction worker hurt in Wheeling

A 60-year-old construction worker was injured when a Bobcat truck he was sitting in rolled out of the back of a semitrailer truck Friday in Wheeling, authorities said.

The accident occurred just after noon at the Prairie Park condo development, located west of the intersection of Wolf Road and Milwaukee Avenue, according to Deputy Police Chief John Peevans.

The worker was conscious, but he was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. The extent of the man’s injuries was not available.

The Bobcat truck, an earth-moving machine, was being used to move dirt on the construction site at Prairie Park, Peevans said.

He said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified about the accident.
