When it comes to getting a custom fit for a headset, Motorola Mobility enlisted the help of its Libertyville workers to improve a long-standing product.
Moto introduced its first custom-fit wireless stereo headphones with high-definition audio and gel inserts for your ears to provide a good fit, said Dickon Isaacs, design director for Motorola Mobility’s consumer experience design department.
“As part of our development, we set up fit stations in the cafeteria and had a lot of employees try on the prototypes,” Isaacs said.
They also did extensive studies on shapes of heads and ears and how headsets fit properly without losing sound, he said.
“We mapped out about a thousand ears,” he said.
That led to creating the S11-Flex HD, a snug-fit, sweatproof headset with five different points of adjustment that will help keep it on even during your most rigorous workouts. It also includes soft silicon gel inserts that sit on top of the ear canal and helps to seal in the sound, he said.
It will be available starting Oct. 28 at Best Buy and online at Motorola.com and BestBuy.com for $129.99.
The headset is the third-generation of headsets and promises “to be the pinnacle experience for the consumer” Isaacs said.
Surfing: Schaumburg-based Motorola Solutions has added more features to its latest TalkAbout two-way radios for consumers. The MT350R now offers a flashlight, weatherproof design and better sound quality so there’s no distortion when the volume is turned up. It also includes weather and Amber Alerts. “A lot of people don’t realize what a great tool this can be in case of emergency,” said Marjon de Groot, business director for Giant International in Atlanta, which licenses the brand name from Motorola Solutions. Giant has been making the TalkAbouts for about nine years in China. The price ranges from $89.999 to $99.99.
